Our environmental approach

Our environmental approach

We deliver our guided walking adventures in an environmental sustainable way. So what does that mean?

Our approach includes:

  • Working with local accommodation providers, particularly those with strong green credentials, and local cafes and food suppliers.

  • Providing local guided walking adventures, close to Pitlochry, Aberfeldy and Blair Atholl. Where possible, these walks start and finish in town or close by or make use of local buses and trains. Highland Perthshire is also very accessible by rail and bus.

  • For our bespoke guided walking adventures, we encourage people to go “off the beaten track”. This means avoiding over-used routes and locations, and basing our walking adventures in a single area to avoid travel to different places throughout the Highlands.

  • Taking every opportunity, whilst out on our walks, to inform people about the area and its environmental and cultural history, and pass on ideas about low environmental impact.

  • Recycling our waste and, where it is safe to do so, cleaning up the environment as we go (such as by taking litter home).

  • Following the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and informing people about their rights and responsibilities.

  • Running our business from our sustainable home (EPC rating of B+), which is just outside Pitlochry.

  • For walks on Schiehallion, we have an agreement with the John Muir Trust whereby 50% of our net income goes to the Trust to support the ongoing management of this area.

  • We have a wealth of experience of access and environmental management through our previous careers, ranging from writing the Scottish Outdoor Access Code to developing local path networks.

We're always willing to learn, so if you have any ideas on how we can further develop our environmental approach please let us know!
