Our terms & conditions

Our terms & conditions

Booking and payment

1.  Bookings for a half-day or full-day guided walking adventure will only be confirmed when full payment has been made.

Cancellation by you (the client) - guided walks

2.  A full refund or future credit will be provided if a cancellation request has been received at least 48 hours before the activity. All cancellations must be notified via email by the person who made the booking.

3.  If you have to cancel the walk due to Covid-19 (for example, if you have caught Covid-19, or have to self-isolate or can’t travel due to restrictions), you will receive a full refund of the amount paid.

4.  Our trips do not include personal accident, cancellation, third party liability, personal injury or loss of property insurance. We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance when you book with us, making sure that your insurance cover includes hill-walking as an activity.

Cancellation by us (Perthshire Treks)

5.  Very occasionally the leader may have to take the decision to cancel the booking altogether due to extreme weather or leader injury/illness. This is a rare event, but if we do have to cancel you will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to rebook on an alternative date, whichever you prefer. You will be informed of the need for cancellation as soon as is reasonably practicable given the circumstances.

6.  If the walk has to be cancelled by us due to Covid-19 (for example, if our guide has caught Covid-19 or has had to self-isolate) then you will be offered a full refund or future credit, whichever you prefer.

Walking in the outdoors and client responsibility

7.  If you are affected by an illness or medical condition which may affect your or other people’s enjoyment of the walk, you must advise us of this at the time of the booking or in advance of the walk (if you do not have the illness or condition at the time of booking). There is space on our booking form for describing an illness or medical condition. Failure to disclose a medical condition that could affect you during the walk could place you and others at risk.

8.  Perthshire Treks will always attempt to complete the walk as advertised or agreed with you, but certain weather conditions may result either in an alternative route or activity being offered. In the event of an alternative being offered, no refund of the cost will be provided. In the case of complete cancellation of the walk/activity on the day, a full refund will be offered.

9.  Perthshire Treks reserves the right to refuse to take you on a walk if, in the opinion of the leader, you do not have the recommended kit (including clothing, equipment or food & drink) for the walk or if your medical condition has changed and which could have an adverse impact on you or on other people in the group. In this eventuality, no refund will be given.

10.  You must accept that there are hazards in the outdoors, and that while every effort will be made to provide an enjoyable experience, risk will always be a minor element of the activity, for which adequate advice will be given, but cannot be eliminated altogether.

11.  Perthshire Treks is not responsible for loss, wear or damage to personal property however caused.

12.  Perthshire Treks cannot be responsible for the actions of a client who fails to follow clear instructions from the leader.

13.  Any children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

14.  The leader reserves the right on the day to discontinue a walk if any client is clearly not capable of safely undertaking the activity or is likely to significantly impact on the enjoyment of other people in the group.

15.  The leader reserves the right on the day to make appropriate changes to the walk if required due to weather, conditions or the fitness of clients.

16.  These conditions of booking set out the terms on which you contract with us. They shall be governed by Scottish Law, being subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of Scotland. In the unlikely event of any party, including you the client, pursuing legal action against Perthshire Treks, any such action, arbitration or claim must first be brought in a Scottish Court (United Kingdom).
